Wenger tips Cesc for Euro 2008 stardom

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has tipped Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas to impress as much in this month s European Championships as he has in the Premier League over the last few seasons.

The Frenchman has been amazed by how the slightly-built Fabregas manages to get the better of his more robust and muscular counterparts.

His intention is always to play football, and that is fantastic to see at a young age, said Wenger.

I see him every day, and he has a great understanding of the game.

I like it that in a period where football is going more towards the athletes only, as long as you have the quality, you don t have to run 100 metres in 10 seconds.

Intelligence still means a lot and in the modern game where everyone is quick and strong, it…

But with Antonio Conte disgruntled by the number of players the Blues have managed to bring in – not to mention one they have been unable to move on – can the Manchester clubs convert their latest close season of huge spending off the field into defining success on it?

Conte s concerns over fighting on two fronts will be similarly felt by Jurgen Klopp, whose Liverpool squad depth will be severely tested by a Champions League campaign, irrespective of whether Barcelona manage to prize Philippe Coutinho away from Merseyside. Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino had a Wembley hex to ponder at Tottenham long before Dann…

I have no doubt about it that Franck will return to the pitch this year, Rummenigge told TZ.

The first thing we need now is an exact diagnosis of the problem. It could still be a while, though.

Rummenigge then went on to discuss Bayern s Champions League match versus Olympiacos on Wednesday and warned…

England suffered another familiar failing in the Euro 2024 final as Gary Neville was left fed up with every Three Lions manager referencing the same struggles in possession.

Former England full-back Neville cut a frustrated figure on ITV pundit duties, blasting a repeated struggle for the Three Lions shortcomings.

We can focus on a lot of things, but Southgate s answer on how we did not keep the ball well enough should be the title of the …

Mbappe elevated to superstardom
